Making the Pool Tight - Hydro-insulation
The swimming pool hydro-insulation is made of the measures taken and the materials used for maintaining the water inside the pool.
The most often used hydro-insulation measures are:
- liner - PVC foil whose tightness ranges from 75/100 to 85/100. It is manufactured for the size and form of the swimming pool and can be coloured in a various range or printed with various patterns. It is used for the family, prefabricated swimming pools.
- reinforced membrane of PVC with the tightness of 150/100 is made of PVC foils of 75/100 and a polyester net as armature, thermo welded in the factory. Due to its superior resistance it is used for the public swimming pools, complex-formed swimming pools and for the pools with water warmer than 27° C.
The colors and models are the same as in the case of the liner.
- hydro-insulation for the concrete swimming pools with brick finishing is made of at least three measures that should be taken throughout the construction:
- the concrete walls and slab foundation should have a tightness of at least 15 m
- the concrete should have a special recipe, with additives, in order to be waterproof
- the proper hydro-insulation should be a 2-3 mm layer applied as polishing plaster coat on the interior surface of the pool. The material is a mixture between cement and an elastic resin. When applying the material, an armature of the polyester net is inserted. In the end an elastic hydro-insulating layer is obtained, which resists even if the concrete support cleaves in case of an earthquake.
